Tenderlake alternatives for defence and dual-use suppliers
Tenderlake is a capable pan-European tender platform with capability matching, translation, a REST API and an MCP analyst. Defence suppliers look elsewhere when they need NATO agency coverage, defence relevance filtering or document-level qualification, or when a GBP subscription plus AI credits is more than they want to pay.
Short answer
Tenderlake is one of the strongest general tools here, especially for developers. Defence suppliers should switch only if defence-specific sources and qualification matter more than breadth and awards history.
- 01Defense Explorer adds NATO/NSPA, defence relevance and clearance classification, cited briefs and a requirements matrix, with the same two developer surfaces: REST and MCP.
- 02Tendify covers thousands of European portals with briefs and a pipeline for far less money, but no API.
- 03Stotles is better for UK and Irish sales teams who want contacts and native CRM sync.
- 04DCI suits UK defence suppliers who want a specialist alerts service with ISO 27001.
- 05For competitor and renewal analysis across the EU from awards history back to 2012, Tenderlake is the better tool. Stay if that is your core use.
Why teams look for alternatives to Tenderlake
[ THE EVIDENCE ]Tenderlake does a lot right. It covers the UK, every EU member state and the EEA with above-threshold history back to 2012 and search in 24 languages. It publishes prices and a no-card trial, documents a REST API with an OpenAPI 3 specification, and its Analyst works as an MCP connector in Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot. Few tools in this category match that developer surface.
Built for the whole public sector. Its product pages do not mention defence or dual-use, and we found no NATO agency sources. Capability matching helps, but there is no classification that separates a military procurement from a civil one, and no reading of clearance requirements.
Cost structure. Plans run from £249 a month billed yearly for the UK and Ireland to £396 a month billed yearly for Europe, and the Analyst add-on is billed on pay-as-you-go credits whose price is not published. For a European SME budgeting in euros, that is harder to forecast than a flat plan.
Qualification depth. Tenderlake explains why a notice matched and flags concerns, but we found no documented cited brief over the tender documents or requirements matrix. Teams that spend most of their time reading tender packs will want to test that part hardest.
Getting data out. Folder exports and Excel, PDF and CSV awards reports exist, and the API reads notices and folders, but the folder export steps are documented only by video and the terms have no clause on exporting customer data after termination. See our Tenderlake export guide.

The alternatives
[ 05 OPTIONS ]Ordered for a European defence or dual-use supplier. A general public-sector supplier would likely keep Tenderlake first.
- 01[ OUR PRODUCT ]
Defense Explorer
- Best for
- Defence and dual-use suppliers who want NATO coverage and document-level qualification
- Price
- Scout free; Analyst €129/month; Team €89 per seat/month (three-seat minimum), excl. VAT
Defense Explorer is narrower than Tenderlake and deeper on defence. It indexes eight sources, including NATO/NSPA and the Dutch, UK, Spanish and French national platforms, classifies each notice for defence relevance and clearance evidence, and scores fit per company product line with reasons, unknowns and blockers. Its cited briefs quote the tender document page for every claim, requirements go into a matrix linked to approved company evidence, and amendments on followed notices are shown clause by clause. The developer surface is comparable: a REST API with OpenAPI 3.1 and an MCP server with OAuth, both on the Team plan with no separate AI credits. It lacks Tenderlake’s awards history depth, pan-European breadth and native Slack and Teams distribution.
Strengths- +NATO/NSPA and defence-filtered national sources
- +Defence relevance and clearance evidence per notice, with reasons
- +Cited briefs, requirement matrix and amendment impact
- +Euro pricing with API and MCP on the Team plan, no AI credits
Watch-outs- –Eight sources, not thousands of portals: coverage is deliberately narrow and defence-filtered, so general public-sector suppliers selling across every regional portal will find more on a broad aggregator
- –Awards and incumbent history far shallower than Tenderlake’s 2012 archive
- –No native Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack or Teams app; those connect through the REST API
- –NCIA (NATO Communications and Information Agency) is not indexed yet: its portal sits behind a browser challenge we do not bypass
- 02
Tendify
- Best for
- General suppliers who want European breadth, briefs and a pipeline at the lowest price
- Price
- Starter €79/month (up to 3 countries) or Unlimited €149/month; €790 or €1,490 a year. Both marked “Limited time offer”, with unlimited team members and AI usage, 7-day free trial
Tendify claims 4,000+ European portals, writes briefs that reference document text and runs a pipeline with comments and @mentions, for €79–€149 a month with unlimited seats. You lose Tenderlake’s API, MCP, translation claims and awards history, and it has no NATO agency sources. See Tendify vs Tenderlake.
Strengths- +Low, published price with unlimited seats and AI usage
- +Very broad European national and regional portal coverage
- +Briefs and chat answers reference the tender document text
- +Full pipeline with comments, @mentions and custom stages
Watch-outs- –No NATO agency sources and no defence positioning
- –No API, MCP or CRM integration documented
- –No self-serve data export documented
- –Prices are labelled as a limited-time offer
- 03
Stotles
- Best for
- UK and Irish government sales teams working in Salesforce or HubSpot
- Price
- Sales Studio: Free, Basic from £75/month, Growth from £475/month, Expert custom. Bid Studio: Free (3 lifetime AI reports), Growth and Expert tiers. Contracts auto-renew unless 45 days’ notice is given
If your buyers are mostly UK and Irish, Stotles adds what Tenderlake does not: decision-maker contacts, native CRM sync and AI bid/no-bid reports and drafts. It has its own MCP connector on paid plans. You give up continental coverage.
Strengths- +Deep UK and Ireland data: pre-tender signals, expiring contracts, spend and buyer contacts
- +Native Salesforce and HubSpot sync, plus Slack
- +Free tier and published entry prices
- +MCP connector for mainstream AI assistants on paid plans
Watch-outs- –UK and Ireland focus; no NATO agency or continental national portals
- –Defence is a UK MOD keyword page, not a defence product
- –Advanced tiers are custom-priced and contracts auto-renew
- –No documented bulk data export
- 04
DCI
- Best for
- UK defence suppliers who want a certified defence specialist
- Price
- Four plans (iconIQ, logIQ, dynamIQ, analytIQ) with 1–5 licences and no published prices; one-year minimum that auto-renews unless cancelled in writing 30 days before renewal; 3-day free trial
DCI brings defence-specific feeds, UK defence spend and framework mapping, with ISO 27001 and JOSCAR. It is quote-only with a one-year minimum, has no MCP and only a top-tier API without public documentation, so it is a step back for developer-led teams.
Strengths- +Decades of defence-specific tender coverage and a recognised UK defence brand
- +UK MOD sources, defence spend and framework mapping
- +ISO 27001 and JOSCAR certification
- +A dedicated success manager on every plan
Watch-outs- –No published prices; one-year minimum with auto-renewal
- –No NATO agency sources claimed; listed plans scoped to UK & ROI
- –AI limited to summaries inside the product; no MCP
- –API only on the top plan, without public documentation
- 05
The official portals, used directly
- Best for
- Very small teams with a narrow buyer list and time to search by hand
- Price
- Free
Every notice the paid tools index starts life on a public portal. UK buyers publish on Find a Tender and Contracts Finder, EU above-threshold notices appear on TED, and NATO’s support agency publishes its opportunities on the NSPA eProcurement portal. If you sell to two or three buyers and already know which portal they use, searching those portals yourself costs nothing. What you give up is one view across them, deduplication, any judgement about fit, and help reading the tender documents.
Strengths- +No licence cost
- +The notice and documents come straight from the buyer
- +No dependency on a vendor’s coverage choices
Watch-outs- –One portal at a time, each with its own search and account
- –No cross-portal deduplication or fit scoring
- –Easy to miss amendments and deadline changes
How to choose
[ BEFORE YOU TRIAL ]Tenderlake sets a high bar on data access. Make sure a replacement clears it where you need it.
- 01List the integrations built on Tenderlake’s API or MCP and check each alternative’s endpoints cover the same fields
- 02Count how many of your target buyers publish through NATO agencies or national defence portals
- 03Run the same capability description through each tool and compare the discarded notices, not just the matches
- 04Open a tender pack and test whether each tool’s summary cites the page it relies on
- 05Price a full year including AI usage, in the currency you budget in
- 06Decide whether awards history back to 2012 is part of your weekly work or an occasional report
- 07Export folders and awards reports before your renewal date
Moving off Tenderlake
Tenderlake has more export routes than most tools here: folder exports, awards reports in Excel, PDF or CSV, and the API. Our guide shows how to use each, and what the terms leave unsaid.
Questions
[ 06 ANSWERS ]01What is the best Tenderlake alternative for defence companies?
Defense Explorer for European and NATO defence buyers; DCI for UK defence alerts from a long-standing specialist.
02Is there a cheaper alternative to Tenderlake?
Tendify is cheaper at €79–€149 a month with unlimited seats, though marked as a limited-time offer. Defense Explorer has a free Scout plan and paid plans from €129 a month, and Stotles has a free tier.
03Which Tenderlake alternatives have an API and MCP?
Defense Explorer documents both a REST API and an MCP server. Stotles has an MCP connector on paid plans and native CRM sync but no public REST API that we found. See MCP for procurement data.
04Does Tenderlake cover NATO tenders?
We found no NATO agency sources such as NSPA or NCIA on its pages as of 15 September 2026. See NATO tender monitoring tools.
05Is Tendify or Tenderlake better?
Tendify is cheaper with broader portal claims; Tenderlake has a real developer surface, translation and awards history. Our Tendify vs Tenderlake page compares them in detail.
06When should I stay with Tenderlake?
When you sell to the whole public sector across the UK and Europe, use awards history for competitor and renewal analysis, and have integrations built on its API or MCP analyst.
