Stotles alternatives for defence suppliers selling beyond the UK
Stotles is a strong UK and Ireland go-to-government sales platform, with buyer intelligence, contacts, CRM sync and AI bid qualification. Defence suppliers look elsewhere when their buyers sit in NATO agencies or continental Europe, or when custom-priced tiers and auto-renewal do not suit. Here is what to consider instead, and when Stotles remains the better tool.
Short answer
If you sell to UK and Irish government and run your pipeline in Salesforce or HubSpot, Stotles is hard to beat. If your defence buyers are in NATO agencies or EU member states, it was not built for you.
- 01Defense Explorer covers NATO/NSPA, TED, EU Funding and the Dutch, UK, Spanish and French national platforms, filtered to defence-relevant notices, with cited briefs and recorded bid decisions.
- 02Tussell goes deeper than Stotles on UK spend, frameworks and call-offs, for research-heavy teams that do not need a bid workflow.
- 03Tenderlake extends coverage to the whole of the EU and EEA with 24-language search, a REST API and an MCP analyst.
- 04DCI is the UK defence specialist with ISO 27001 and JOSCAR, for teams who prefer an established defence brand.
- 05None of these replaces Stotles’ UK decision-maker contacts combined with native CRM sync. If outreach is your main workflow, stay.
Why teams look for alternatives to Stotles
[ THE EVIDENCE ]Stotles is well funded, having raised a $13M Series A in May 2025, and ships regularly. Its August 2026 release added an MCP connector for Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft 365 Copilot on paid plans. So the reasons to move are mostly about where you sell, not whether the product is maintained.
Coverage stops at the UK and Ireland. Its data sources article lists Contracts Finder, Find a Tender, Public Contracts Scotland, Sell2Wales, eTenders, the Digital Marketplace and TED. There is no NATO agency and no continental national portal. On Capterra, one of the older reviews asks for exactly this international scope.
Defence is a landing page, not a product. Stotles has a UK defence tenders page built around MOD notices, but no defence relevance or clearance classification that we could find. A supplier of dual-use sensors or secure communications gets the same general public-sector feed as everyone else.
Pricing and contract terms. The pricing page shows a free tier and entry prices, but the Expert tiers are custom-priced and Bid Studio’s paid tiers sit well above the entry sales plan. The terms renew a contract automatically for the same length unless you give 45 days’ notice, so diarise that date whatever you decide.
Getting data out. Contacts and notices flow to your CRM, but we found no documented bulk export of saved views, pipeline or bid reports, and the terms require a leaving customer to delete Stotles-owned data. See our Stotles export guide.

The alternatives
[ 05 OPTIONS ]Ordered for a defence or dual-use supplier with buyers outside the UK. A UK-only sales team would rank Tussell and DCI higher.
- 01[ OUR PRODUCT ]
Defense Explorer
- Best for
- Defence and dual-use suppliers whose buyers include NATO agencies and EU member states
- Price
- Scout free; Analyst €129/month; Team €89 per seat/month (three-seat minimum), excl. VAT
Defense Explorer’s feed brings together NATO/NSPA, TED, the EU Funding & Tenders portal and four national platforms, UK Find a Tender and Contracts Finder among them, so UK coverage does not disappear when you add Europe. Every notice is classified as military, dual-use, civil security or unrelated, with the reason shown, and clearance is marked only when a notice states it. Where Stotles offers AI bid/no-bid reports from uploaded documents, Defense Explorer offers cited briefs over the tender documents it fetches, a requirements matrix linked to your approved company evidence, and amendment detection that flags affected requirements. It does not offer UK decision-maker contacts, spend analytics or bid drafting, and CRM connections go through the REST API rather than a native app.
Strengths- +NATO/NSPA and EU national sources alongside UK Find a Tender and Contracts Finder
- +Defence relevance and clearance evidence classified per notice
- +Cited briefs, requirement matrix and amendment impact
- +Published prices, free Scout plan, REST API and MCP
Watch-outs- –No buyer decision-maker contact database
- –No UK invoice-level spend data or framework call-off analytics
- –No AI proposal drafting; the product stops at qualification and the bid decision
- –No native Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack or Teams app; those connect through the REST API
- 02
Tussell
- Best for
- UK research and BD teams who need spend, frameworks and call-offs more than a bid workflow
- Price
- Starter, Plus and Pro plans on annual subscription, “Talk to Sales”; its G-Cloud 14 listing shows £11,400 per licence per year
Tussell is the other established UK name. It goes further than Stotles on invoice-level spend, framework and call-off analysis, and publishes a UK defence procurement tracker. It is still UK only, has no pipeline or generative AI, and is quote-only; its G-Cloud listing shows £11,400 per licence per year. Choose it if your job is market analysis rather than qualifying individual tenders.
Strengths- +Deepest UK spend, framework and call-off data of the tools here
- +Human-verified early opportunities from buyer documents
- +Large UK decision-maker contact set
- +Long track record with major UK suppliers
Watch-outs- –UK only: no EU, national European or NATO coverage
- –No published prices; annual contract
- –No pipeline, bid workflow or generative AI
- –Downloaded data carries licence and refresh obligations
- 03
Tenderlake
- Best for
- Suppliers selling to the whole public sector across the UK and Europe
- Price
- UK+IE £325/month (£249/month billed yearly); Europe/UK/Int+ £546/month (£396/month billed yearly); Analyst AI add-on on pay-as-you-go credits; 7-day free trial
Tenderlake keeps strong UK coverage and adds every EU member state and the EEA, with awards history back to 2012 and search in 24 languages. Like Stotles it has an MCP analyst, and it also documents a REST API. It is a generalist without defence classification or NATO agency sources, and its AI analyst is billed on separate credits.
Strengths- +Broad UK and pan-European coverage with 24-language search and translation
- +Mature developer surface: REST API with OpenAPI 3 and an MCP analyst
- +Awards history back to 2012 for competitor and renewal analysis
- +Published pricing and a no-card trial
Watch-outs- –Generalist: no defence relevance or clearance classification, no NATO agency sources
- –Priced in GBP, with AI analyst usage billed separately on credits
- –No document-level cited briefs or requirement matrix documented
- –Folder export steps documented only by video
- 04
DCI
- Best for
- UK defence suppliers who want a defence specialist with security certification
- Price
- Four plans (iconIQ, logIQ, dynamIQ, analytIQ) with 1–5 licences and no published prices; one-year minimum that auto-renews unless cancelled in writing 30 days before renewal; 3-day free trial
If the gap you feel in Stotles is defence depth rather than geography, DCI is the long-standing defence alerts service, with MOD eNotice and Delta eSourcing feeds, defence spend and 19,000+ frameworks. Expect opaque pricing, a one-year minimum with auto-renewal, and AI limited to summaries.
Strengths- +Decades of defence-specific tender coverage and a recognised UK defence brand
- +UK MOD sources, defence spend and framework mapping
- +ISO 27001 and JOSCAR certification
- +A dedicated success manager on every plan
Watch-outs- –No published prices; one-year minimum with auto-renewal
- –No NATO agency sources claimed; listed plans scoped to UK & ROI
- –AI limited to summaries inside the product; no MCP
- –API only on the top plan, without public documentation
- 05
The official portals, used directly
- Best for
- Very small teams with a narrow buyer list and time to search by hand
- Price
- Free
Every notice the paid tools index starts life on a public portal. UK buyers publish on Find a Tender and Contracts Finder, EU above-threshold notices appear on TED, and NATO’s support agency publishes its opportunities on the NSPA eProcurement portal. If you sell to two or three buyers and already know which portal they use, searching those portals yourself costs nothing. What you give up is one view across them, deduplication, any judgement about fit, and help reading the tender documents.
Strengths- +No licence cost
- +The notice and documents come straight from the buyer
- +No dependency on a vendor’s coverage choices
Watch-outs- –One portal at a time, each with its own search and account
- –No cross-portal deduplication or fit scoring
- –Easy to miss amendments and deadline changes
How to choose
[ BEFORE YOU TRIAL ]Stotles’ strengths are specific. Test whether you actually use them before replacing them.
- 01Check what share of last year’s bids went to non-UK buyers; below one in five, Stotles may still be the better fit
- 02List how often your team used decision-maker contacts or CRM sync last quarter
- 03Confirm each alternative indexes the NATO agency or national portal your target buyers publish on
- 04Test defence relevance filtering on a real week of notices, not a demo dataset
- 05If you rely on Salesforce or HubSpot, decide whether an API integration is acceptable instead of native sync
- 06Diarise your Stotles renewal date and the 45-day notice period before you start trials
- 07Plan how saved views, pipeline and bid reports will move, since no bulk export is documented
Moving off Stotles
Before you give notice, get your contacts and notices into your CRM and capture the pipeline and bid decisions you want to keep. Our guide sets out what can be exported, what cannot, and what the terms say about data after termination.
Questions
[ 06 ANSWERS ]01What is the best Stotles alternative for defence suppliers?
If your defence buyers include NATO agencies or EU member states, Defense Explorer. If you stay UK-only but want a defence specialist, DCI. If you need deeper UK spend analysis, Tussell.
02Does Stotles cover European or NATO tenders?
It lists TED among its sources, but no NATO agency or continental national portal as of 15 September 2026. Its focus is the UK and Ireland.
03Is Stotles or Tussell better?
They solve different problems: Stotles is built around finding and qualifying opportunities with CRM sync, Tussell around UK spend, frameworks and market research. See Stotles vs Tussell.
04Which Stotles alternatives have an MCP connector?
Tenderlake’s Analyst product and Defense Explorer both offer MCP connections; Stotles itself added one on paid plans in August 2026. See procurement data over MCP.
05How much notice do I need to cancel Stotles?
Its terms extend a contract automatically by the original length unless notice is given 45 days before the end of the period. Check your own order form, which takes precedence.
06When should I stay with Stotles?
When most of your buyers are UK or Irish public bodies, your team uses decision-maker contacts and CRM sync daily, and you want AI bid qualification and drafting in the same product.
