How to export your data from Tussell

Tussell is the most exportable tool in this group: data downloads from the web app as CSV, and a paid API delivers daily files. The catch is the licence. Downloaded data runs on a 364-day licence and has to be refreshed or removed, so exporting everything on your way out does not mean you can keep it.

What you can take with you

“Documented” means described on Tussell’s public website, help centre or terms as of 15 September 2026. A feature can exist without being documented; ask your account contact before you assume it does not.

Export step by step

Tussell documents that exports exist and how the contract treats them, but not the exact clicks. The routes below are the documented ones.

  1. STEP 01

    Download the CSVs you still use

    Data is downloadable from the web app in CSV. Prioritise the lists your team actually works from: accounts, renewals and competitor awards you track.

    Large spend pulls stop at 500,000 rows per download under the sample order form, so split them by buyer or period. Trial accounts cannot export at all.

  2. STEP 02

    Use the API for framework lot data and bulk pulls

    If you pay for the API, it delivers daily files through authenticated access to a curated AWS S3 bucket, with PDF documentation. Framework lot data is not included in typical downloads but can be streamed through the API. Tussell’s integrations page lists Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics, Power BI, Tableau and others as destinations, all fed through the paid API.

  3. STEP 03

    Write down your saved searches before the end date

    Tussell will send saved search filters on written request after termination, but a copy you made yourself is available immediately and lets you check the one you receive.

  4. STEP 04

    Request filters and personal data after termination

    Use the template below. The G-Cloud listing says terminated customers can request, in writing, a copy of any personal data and saved search filters entered by their authorised users.

Before you cancel

Tussell subscriptions are annual. The export question is really a licence question.

  1. STEP 01

    Check the term on your own order form

    The 2023 G-Cloud sample order form sets a minimum 12-month term, no auto-renew and no cancellation during the term. Your contract may differ, so read your own order form rather than the template.

  2. STEP 02

    Export while the licence is active

    Account data is deleted after the termination date, so every download needs to be done before it.

  3. STEP 03

    Plan the removal of licensed data

    Downloaded selections are licensed for 364 days and must then be renewed or removed. Work out which systems hold Tussell data, including CRM fields fed by the API, before the licence lapses. Content already incorporated into internal business documents may be retained under the terms.

  4. STEP 04

    Request filters and personal data in writing

    Send the request as soon as the contract ends and keep a copy.

Moving into Defense Explorer

What to do with what you took out of Tussell. Nothing here assumes a one-click import.

  1. STEP 01

    Start from your inventory, not the old tool’s structure

    List the search criteria you relied on in Tussell (countries, CPV codes, keywords, value bands), the bids that are live today with their deadlines and owners, and the certificates and references you keep being asked for. That list is what you rebuild; the rest of the export is archive.

    We do not advertise a one-click importer from other tender tools. If you are moving a large pipeline, talk to us before you start and we will help you plan it.

  2. STEP 02

    Describe what you sell, per product line

    Set up the company profile with one entry per product line or service. Matching then scores each notice 0–100 against that line and lists the reasons, what the notice did not state, and hard blockers such as a missing clearance separately. See explainable matching.

  3. STEP 03

    Recreate your saved searches

    Rebuild the searches from your inventory as saved searches, personal or shared with the company. Filters cover source, country, CPV code, value, dates and defence relevance, and they are evaluated on the server so new matches reach the digest. Coverage is TED, NATO/NSPA, EU Funding & Tenders, TenderNed, UK Find a Tender, UK Contracts Finder, Spain’s PLACSP and France’s BOAMP: check tender monitoring against the portals you actually used.

  4. STEP 04

    Put live bids on the pursuit board

    Add each live opportunity as a pursuit with a stage, owner, next action and deadline, and record bid or no-bid decisions with their rationale as you make them. See the capture pipeline.

  5. STEP 05

    Run both tools until the renewal date

    Keep Tussell running until your notice period ends and compare what each surfaces for the same weeks. If Defense Explorer misses notices you depend on, you will know before the old contract lapses.

Can I export data from Tussell?

Can I keep Tussell data after my subscription ends?

How do I get my saved searches out of Tussell?

After termination, submit a written request for a copy of the saved search filters your users entered. Record them yourself before the end date as well.

Does Tussell export framework lot data?

Framework lot data is not included in typical data downloads, according to Tussell’s help centre, but it can be streamed into your systems through the API.

Does GDPR give me the right to export everything from Tussell?

No. The right to data portability in Article 20 of the GDPR (and the UK GDPR) covers personal data you provided, processed by automated means on the basis of consent or a contract. It gets you your user profile and similar personal data in a structured, machine-readable format. It does not cover the vendor’s tender database, its match results or company records that are not personal data. For those, your contract and the product’s own export features decide what you can take. This is not legal advice.

What should UK and European defence suppliers use instead of Tussell?
